Couples' Prenatal Yoga Workshop

Practicing prenatal yoga throughout your pregnancy will help you to cultivate flexibility and strength, relieve back strain, connect with your unborn child, and face childbirth with courage and awareness. Practicing as a couple will leave the two of you feeling deeply connected to each other and your baby.

Expectant parents will enjoy...

  • Practicing yoga postures together
  • Meditation and synchronized breathing
  • Childbirth preparation techniques
  • Vocal Toning to prepare for labor
After class, you and your partner will come away feeling deeply connected to each other and your baby. You will be rested, rejuvenated, and empowered to give birth in the most beautiful way possible!
  • Offered the last Sunday of every month from 10:30 am - 12:30 pm.
  • Please bring two pillows, a folding chair, and yoga mats if you have them (studio has extras).

Newborn Care & "Happiest Baby on the Block" Class

The idea of bringing home your newborn is often both exciting and frightening at the same time. This hands-on course is designed to help parents find the confidence to trust in their instincts while giving them the tools & knowledge to understand their newborn's needs. An emphasis is placed on Lamaze's Approach to Parenting.

  • The Fourth Trimester,
  • "The Happiest Baby on the Block"'s Five S's,
  • Diapering options,
  • Swaddling,
  • Soothing baby,

Mama's Milk: Breastfeeding Your Baby Class

This course is designed for those who are planning to breastfeed, giving parents the tools for success. Studies show that when mothers are supported by their partners, they will be more successful with breastfeeding - thus, I encourage parents to attend this class together. An emphasis is placed on Lamaze's Approach to Parenting.

  • Benefits of breastfeeding,
  • Breastfeeding positions,
  • Proper latch - what to look for,
  • Feeding cues,
  • The Breastfeed Crawl,
  • Supporting the breastfeeding mother,

Looking for an alternative to those boring childbirth classes your friends warned you about? Look no further! This interactive series will use games, videos & more to both prepare you for the birth of your baby and to help you understand birth as a normal, natural, and healthy process! There is an emphasis on Lamaze's Approach to Birth and Lamaze's Healthy Care Practices.

Yogazander®'s "Finding Your Bliss Body" Workshop

During this two-hour afternoon workshop, participants will embark on an inner journey to peel away the layers and find their bliss bodies. This will be done by using basic yoga poses, breathing exercises, imagery and the Alexander Technique. The gentle hands-on bodywork of the Alexander Technique will be used to invite the soft release of muscle tension and facilitate an easy, natural alignment in the yoga poses. It will be a relaxing and enjoyable afternoon. Class size is limited to allow personalized learning and individual attention. No previous yoga experience is required; however, body awareness is helpful.

Yogazander® is a special combination of Yoga and the Alexander Technique developed by workshop instructors, Helena Bray and Cheri Hotalen. Helena is a certified Yoga instructor trained in the Indra Devi style and Cheri is a certified teacher of the Alexander Technique. Both teachers bring over seventeen years of personal study in their fields and share a passion for joyful living through Yoga.

Pranyama Donation Class for Tatyana with Yana

Join our wonderful instructor, Yana, as she leads this Pranyama class. All monies raised for this class will go toward Affirmations student Tatyana who has been diagnosed with a rare and untreatable cancer. Please join us for this wonderful fundraiser.

Women's Self Defense & Safety Class

Women: If you want to learn how to keep yourself safe, you must attend the “Tools for Personal Safety – Women’s Self Defense” class. All women should learn a basic knowledge of self defense in order to protect themselves and their children.

Do You Know How to Stay Safe in Today’s World?

  • What would you do if an attacker grabs you from behind?
  • If someone has you pinned to the ground against your will?
  • Or, if a stranger approaches you asking for help?

In this class you will learn not only basic physical strategies and techniques, but how to avoid and evade dangerous situations by improving awareness of your surroundings.

Who Should Attend? This class is for any woman who:

  • Drives or travels alone
  • Trains at a fitness gym
  • Shops at the mall or grocery store
  • Gets children in and out of the car
  • Runs errands alone
  • Exercises in a residential neighborhood
  • Enjoys happy hour or a night out with the girls
  • Works long hours leaving after dark
  • Is a student walking alone on a College or High School Campus
  • Is a Mother, Daughter, Grandma, Aunt or Niece… EVERY woman can benefit from this information!

This FREE Workshop introduces our newest remarkable teacher, Tracy Hicks, R.Y.T., C.M.T.

Tracy is a dedicated, devoted, and ever-evolving student of yoga and healing arts, since she began her diligent practice in 1998. She is a registered master yoga instructor in accordance to Yoga Alliance standards, and has been teaching yoga since 2005. Tracy uniquely blends anatomy, alignment, and rhythm into a contemplative and dynamic approach to the practice, and has studied yoga and meditation under a variety of reputable mentors around the world. A couple of years ago she sold most of her material possessions and began her extensive international travel, and this freedom has infused her teaching, spirituality, and life. Tracy has a deep appreciation for nature and her connection to it. She has formulated a unique blend of Vinyasa, Hatha, and Anusara for an invigorating, detoxifying, and grounding experience in her Fusion Flow class, she also teaches a specialty style called YIN Yoga under the Paul Grilley method, which is a healing moving meditation that stretches deep into the joints and connective tissues of the body. Her classes will balance your mind, body and soul, and leave your spirit soaring.
